Château La Mission Haut Brion
Pessac Leognan - Graves Cru Classé
Description
A true icon of the Pessac-Léognan area, the property dates back to the 16th century. Classified as a Graves Grand Cru in 1953, it produces a fine wine perfect for ageing from twenty hectares of vines which draw all that they need to produce excellent grapes from gravel, sand and clay soils.
Harvested by hand, the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes are vinified in the traditional way. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and ageing lasts from 18 to 22 months in barrels whose proportion of new wood can reach 80%.
James Suckling : “The classy mouth-feel and length to this is really gorgeous, and it seduces you with its texture of fine silk and finesse. Lasts for a long, long time. Medium body with medium, creamy and round tannins and a layered, textured finish. Shows blackcurrants, lead pencil and crushed stone at the end. 52.7% merlot, 29.6% cabernet sauvignon and 17.7% cabernet franc.”
