  • Description

On less than forty hectares, the vines of the Domaine de Chevalier (located in Pessac-Léognan) flourish on gravel soils resting on a base of clay and gravel. Harvested by hand, carefully sorted and vinified in relatively large stainless steel vats, the grapes produce a wine which, aged between one and two years in new barrels with a proportion of new wood of around 50%, is well suited to ageing. It seduces by the subtle balance between depth and charm, complexity and intense fruit.

iDealwine Primeur tasting notes : “An elegant and subtle nose with black fruits and well-ripeed berries and hints of tropical spices and liquorice. On the palate, the initial impression is supple. The texture is velvety without being rough at all and everything melts into each other.  The smooth and charming finish is voluptuous without being overly powerful. This subtle wine already seems to be accessible, but it has been gifted with a beautiful acidity that points to wonderful ageing capabilities.”

Wine Advocate : “The 2023 Domaine de Chevalier reveals a perfumed, incipiently complex bouquet of dark wild berries, cassis, rose petals, spices and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with a fleshy core of fruit framed by powdery tannins and bright acids, it concludes with a long, saline, gently oak-inflected finish. This blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc is maturing in 40% new barrels.”
