Château Lynch-Bages
Pauillac - 5ème Grand Cru Classé
Description
Located in Pauillac, Château Lynch-Bages is comprised of around 100 hectares of vines that benefit from their Garonne gravel terroir. This means that the sixty-year-old vines grow in well-draining soil and enjoy an ideal location. Hand harvests preceede plot-by-plot vinification which are rounded off by 18 months agin in oak barrels whose proportion of new oak hangs around two-thirds. Tasting the wine reveals a wine made cut for ageing with a flashy body that has well-intergrated woody notes.
Wine Advocate : “As usual one of the chunkier, broader-shouldered wines of the Médoc, the 2023 Lynch-Bages exhibits aromas of dark berries and cassis mingled with pencil shavings, licorice and pipe tobacco, framed by creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it’s deep, concentrated and generously extracted, with plenty of youthfully chewy tannin to carry it along in the cellar. The 2023 is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.”
