Château Leoville Las Cases
Saint Julien - 2ème Grand Cru Classé
Description
In the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Léoville Las Cases owns around 50 hectares of vines which grow on gravel soil surrounded by a stone wall. Coming from 50 year old Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot vines, the wines age in wood that give it a wonderful balance between density and freshness, roundness and elegance.
A mineral tautness unties the ensemble and makes it particularly persistent.
James Suckling : “Exceptional quality of cabernet comes through here, with a lot of graphite, lead pencil, crushed stone, walnut and currant fruit. It grows and expands on the palate, remaining in focus at the same time. Refined and seamless with beautiful tannins that show power and intensity. It rolls across the palate with verve. 86% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc and 4% merlot.”
