Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey
Sauternes - 1er Grand Cru Classé
Description
Classified as a Sauternes Premier Cru in 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the icons that should feature amoung your collection. It is the fruit of a famed terroir made of silica, gravel and clay soils and the Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle vines are carefully cultivated without herbicides. The hand-harvested grapes are vinified in French oak barrels. The wine is then aged in barrels whose proportion of new wood oscillates between 40% and 70%. Powerful, complex and persistent, this is a true wine to savour in peace and quiet.
James Suckling : “A dense and very intense Sauternes with spiced pear, apple and orange peel. Caramel and spice with some brown sugar. Full and deep. Very sweet. Flavorful finish. Shows depth and intensity. 160 g/L residual sugar. Reminds me of 2003. 100% semillon”.
