Château Haut Brion White
Pessac Leognan
Description
A legend of Pessac-Léognan and the entire Bordeaux region, Château Haut-Brion create am extremely elegant white wine made for ageing from Sémillon (the majority) and Sauvignon Blanc grown according to sustainable methods. These varieties blossom on two gravelly knolls and, in the cellar, their grapes are fermented and aged in oak barrels.
The latter process can take anywhere from nine months to a year with half the wine spending this time in new containers. Its rarity is due to the fact that it comes from only four hectares of vines.
iDealwine Primeur tasting note : “A wonderful minerality is the first thing that you notice on the nose with aromas of flint, citrus fruit and white fruit. Fruit and minerality mingle on the palate, revealing pear flavours in particular. The wine is ample and taut yet balanced with a beautiful body and a saline finish. Completely balanced and nuanced, this is a tremendous Pessac !”
Wine Advocate :”A bit shy, the 2023 Haut-Brion Blanc exhibits aromas of lemon, lemon oil, crisp stone fruits and spring flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, dense and fleshy palate that’s round and layered, with chalky underlying structure and a long, mineral finish. It’s a blend of 58% Sauvignon Blanc and 42% Sémillon.”
