  • Description

This 42-hectare estate, which flourishes on clay and sandy-gravel soils, is distinguished by its powerful and rich wines. The property is in conversion to organic and biodynamic agriculture. The vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats and without sulfur, the fermentations take place under the action of indigenous yeasts, without chemical contributions. The maturation lasts from 12 to 14 months, in barrels or in tuns, in concrete eggs or in stainless steel tanks. Notes of plum, blackberry, blackcurrant are complemented by subtle notes of spices.

iDealwine Primeur tasting note : “The nose reveals black fruit and woody aromas while the palate delivers a fantastic freshness, a brilliantly supple and silky character, and an undercurrent with delicate tannins which concludes in a long finish.”

Wine Advocate : “Matured without using barrels, the 2023 Haut Bergey instead utilized stainless steel tanks, egg-shaped concrete containers, TAVA amphorae and foudres of 30 hectoliters. It reveals a perfumed, delicate bouquet of cassis, blueberries, mulberries, flowers and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and lively, it’s perfectly balanced with a juicy texture that finishes long and mouthwatering. The increased proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, necessitated by mildew on the Merlot, imparts a delicate and tense mid-palate characterized by powdery tannins. This blend, consisting of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot, is a singularly well-executed wine at this address.”
