  • Description

Composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the wine of Chateau Giscours, a Grand Cru Classé of 1855, reveals a particularly velvety texture, great aromatic complexity, beautiful fruit and magnificent concentration, witnessing a good aging potential. The grapes are carefully sorted before the vinification which is done in concrete and stainless steel tanks. The maceration lasts more than a month and the wine is aged for almost a year and a half in French oak barrels with a proportion of new wood of 50%.

iDealwine Primeur tasting note : “The elegant nose is bursting with fresh black fruits and menthol aromas. The maturity of the fruit is extremely precise with the superb attack revealing intense fruit supported by spiced flavours. The wine is deeply complex and structured with absolutely no bitterness. Crisp, elegant tannins emerge without overpowering the fruit and there is a beautiful balance between the fruit and smooth tannins. A velvety, lingering finish, driven by wonderful aromas of black fruit and floral notes (peony), offers a very seductive conclusion. This wine is extremely sophisticated.”

Wine Advocate : “The 2023 Giscours is one of the real successes of the vintage, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries and red fruits mingled with hints of undergrowth, violets and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it’s seamless and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit framed by ripe, powdery tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a long, broad finish. It’s a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc.”
