Château Cheval Blanc
Saint Emilion
Description
The 2022 vintage : Where to start! The quality achieved by Cheval Blanc this year has reached such a high level that the property will not release its second wine, Petit Cheval. 22% of the wines produced have insufficient quality and these will be declassified and sold in bulk. The average temperature remained above 15°C, an uncommon situation, which is the result of several heatwaves when the mercury rose above 40°C. To combat this heat, the team reintroduced trees in the plots to create better air movement for the vines while also helping the biodiversity of the parcels and stimulating the soils. Between the rows of vines, a garden grows with mustard (earthworms love it), leguminous (flax and clover), and brassica plants (radish) as well as cereals (rye).
