Château Canon-La-Gaffelière
Saint Emilion - 1er Grand Cru Classé B
Description
Château Canon-La-Gaffelière possesses a beautiful terroir composed of clay, limestone and sand that easily captures the heat, allowing the Merlot and Cabernet grapes to ripen perfectly. In the cellar, each plot is vinified seperately and slowly. The wine is aged on its fine lees for 15 to 18 months depending on the vintage and with as little intervention as possible in order to let the fruit and the terroir express themselves in the wine that combines the generosity of Merlot with the delicacy and energy of Cabernet Franc and the power of Cabernet Sauvignon.
iDealwine Primeur tasting note : “The delightful, fragrant nose is bursting with aromas of fresh red and black berries (raspberry and blackberry). The palate mirrors this fruitiness with a clean, elegant structure, freshness, and soft tannins.”
Wine Advocate : “The 2023 Canon la Gaffelière offers up aromas of minty berries, plums, pencil shavings, dried herbs and bay leaf, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and crunchy palate underpinned by tangy acids and chalky tannins. It’s a blend of 35% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.”
