Domaine de Chevalier White
Pessac Leognan - Graves Cru Classé
Description
In Pessac-Léognan, the Domaine de Chevalier produces a beautiful white wine composed of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon which draw the nutrients necessary for their development from gravel and clay soils, while benefiting from the influence of the surrounding forest. Harvested by hand, they are vinified in oak barrels containing a small proportion of new wood (30%, approximately) and are aged in barrels also used for one year or more. Thus, the wine is both lively and rich, made to keep well and to accompany dishes of character.
iDealwine Primeur tasting notes : “The alluring nose of this 2023, made from 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillion, alludes to this very fresh, ample wine dominated by floral aromas. The finish reveals beautiful almond and white floral flavours as well as a delicate acidity. This wine is extremely sophisticated with a lovely length.”
Wine Advocate : “A perfumed, complex bouquet of pear, white peach, hazelnuts, lime tree leaves and spring flowers prefaces the 2023 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated wine with racy acids, chalky, structuring dry extract, and a bright, vibrant profile that’s rare in this vintage. This is a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon.”
