Château Sociando Mallet
Haut Medoc
Description
An unclassified Médoc property that can rival the greatest Médoc wines… This domain’s vineyards sit on some of the gravel terrois in Médoc. Long run by its signature owner, Jean Gautreau, who bought the property in 1969, it’s now his daughter Sylvie who sits at the helm after the passing of her father in 2019.
This domain is a valued Bordeaux producer with beautiful round, seducing and fresh wines which have great ageing potential.
Wine Advocate : “The 2023 Sociando-Mallet is showing well, exhibiting aromas of cherries and cassis mingled with hints of pencil shavings and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it’s lively and classically structured, with sweet tannins, bright acids and a penetrating finish. The blend is 50% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, which attained 14% alcohol.”
