Château Larrivet Haut-Brion
Pessac Leognan

Description
The Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines, which are blended together to make up this Graves wine, are planted on deep, gravel soils with a argillaceous matrix. The plants, which are on average 30 years old, are pruned into the double guyot shape. When it comes to caring fro the vines during the growin cycle, Château Larrivet Haut Brion leaves cover crops between the rows of vines and removes leaves where needed. The harvests are conducted by hand when the grapes are perfectly ripe and the grapes are sorted on tables.
Plot-by-plot vinification takes place in temperature controlled cement vats and maceration takes place over many weeks (from 4 to 5 week) with punching down occuring. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in oak barrels, a third of which are new, another third of which having already seen one wine and the final third having already seen two wines. It is then fined before being slightly filtered.
The 2024 Blend: 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc.
iDealwine En Primeur Tasting Note:“A bouquet of floral and black fruits, ranging from violet to blackcurrant notes, reveals a more serious, even masculine palate, characterised by leather and coffee, with clear cocoa tones and a silky, velvety texture. An iDealwine favourite. ”
Wine Advocate: The 2024 Larrivet Haut-Brion offers up aromas of peonies, strawberries and cassis blossoms mingled with green notes. Medium-bodied, tense and lively, it’s lean with brittle tannins and a firm, angular finish dominated by green notes.
