Château Gruaud Larose
Saint Julien - 2ème Grand Cru Classé
Description
Chateau Gruaud-Larose has 80 hectares of vines that rest on a soil of Garonne gravel on a clay and limestone subsoil. The vines are about forty years old and are cultivated with the greatest respect for biodiversity (presence of hedges, different species of trees, grassing, grazing of the vines by sheep…). Manual harvesting precedes a traditional vinification which is defined by a maceration of nearly one month and an 18-month maturation in oak barrels with a proportion of new wood of 80%.
iDealwine Primeur tasting note : “The wine’s nose contains very pure fruit aromas. The initial drop is delicate and this 2023 distinguishes itself from the crowd thanks to the finesse of its texture. Tannins are present on the palate, but the sample we tasted shows a certain rigidness in the finish which is marked by woody flavours that need to melt into the wine.”
