  • Description

This wine is a great classic of its appellation, Pessac-Léognan, blended with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec, the proportions varying with the vintage, of course. When it comes to the art of blending, only the best wines tasted are selected to become part of this great wine. Each barrel is studied and tasted according to its grape variety and terroir, and questioned in the composition of the nectar.

The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. Once in the winery, the bunches are sorted twice, before and after destemming, to ensure that only healthy grapes are kept. The grapes are then lightly crushed and placed in vats with the skins for 30 days at low temperature. Château Carbonnieux’s red wines are characterized by their intense color, so the marc cap is regularly watered. At the end of fermentation, the wines are gravity-fed into barrels for malo and ageing. This lasts almost 18 months, in Bordeaux barrels. The barrels are made from oak from central France.

Vintage 2024 blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot.

Le Figaro Vin : “ Like shimmering garnet satin, the nose reveals tender notes of ripe red fruit (raspberry, cranberry) that fade away and play hide-and-seek with floral aromas, coming and going as they please. The palate is fresh and tender, with a bright, well-balanced texture.
