Château Canon
Saint Emilion - 1er Grand Cru Classé B

Description
You will find Château Canon, property of Chanel since 1996, on the top of Saint-Emilion’s limestone plateau. The vines have a south-southeast exposure and are cultivated using sustainable methods. In the winery, vinification is traditional and parcel-based, using truncated-conical vats. The wine is aged in barrels of which about 50% are new. In the glass, the red fruit notes mix with that of cocoa, introducing a silky and persistent mouth feel.
The 2024 Blend: 72% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc.
iDealwine En Primeur Tasting Note:“The château was the first to start harvesting on 19 September, a crucial decision, which allowed 40 hectolitres/hectare to be collected, leaving room for precise sorting. We tasted this wine from the barrel, 50% of which are new. Deep black in colour, the wine has a nose overflowing with blackcurrant notes, concentrated. On the palate, the wine delivers vibrant energy, fine fruit, and a long finish – the chalky structure lengthens the wine which finishes with licorice notes. A iDealwine favourite. ”
Wine Advocate: “ The 2024 Canon is shaping up brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, blackberries and raspberries mingled with notions of rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with tangy acids (the pH is a very low 3.35) and ultrarefined tannins, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. A blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, it’s the estate’s first year of organic certification.”
