Château Talbot
Saint Julien - 4ème Grand Cru Classé
Description
The fourth Grand Cru Classé of 1855, Château Talbot has a large vineyard of about one hundred hectares. There, the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot vines draw the nutrients necessary for their development from the gravelly soils of the Medoc.
Harvested by hand, the berries are severely sorted before vinification in wooden vats. The wine is then matured in barrels in which the proportion of new wood is about 60%, and this for about fifteen months.
Wine Advocate : “Offering up aromas of dark berries, baking chocolate, plums, espresso roast and crushed mint, the 2023 Talbot is medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, with a rich but lively core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, penetrating finish. Harvested over the course of fully four weeks, it’s a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot that attained 13% alcohol.”
