Château Mazeyres
Pomerol
Description
We present the great wine of Chateau Mazeyres, a Pomerol property whose 25.5 hectares have been worked biodynamically since 2012, and which has been certified Biodyvin since the 2018 vintage. This wine is the result of the work of several skills, and in particular those of Alain Moueix, consultant to the Château, Jean-Michel Bernard, head of culture and Thomas Cézac, cellar master.
The Château has one of the largest vineyards in the Pomerol appellation, and thus presents wines of unparalleled complexity. The vines are on average 30 years old. The grapes are harvested manually, in small crates in order to preserve the quality of the berries. As soon as they arrive at the winery, the grapes are carefully sorted before fermentation begins, in concrete or thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, depending of course on the terroir and its characteristics. This is followed by extractions that are both very slow and gentle.
The wine is aged in different containers: one-wine barrels (up to 50%), new wood barrels (up to 30%) and ovoid concrete tanks (up to 20%).
Wine Advocate : “Aromas of raspberries and plums mingled with licorice and mint introduce the 2023 Mazeyres, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and velvety Pomerol with a lively core of fruit framed by sweet, powdery tannins.”
