Château Durfort-Vivens
Margaux - 2ème Grand Cru Classé
Description
A Margaux deuxième grand cru classé, the grand vin from Château Durfort-Vivens comes from 50 hectares made up of deep gravel, sand and clay soils. In the cellar, the grapes ferment in oak and cement vats as well as earthenware jars. After plot-by-plot vinification, the wine is matured in French oak barrels whose proportion of new wood is around 60%. Tasting it realves a subtil balance between the fruit and notes typical of this type of ageing (toast, vanilla, sweet spices). Smooth, the palate is nevertheless structured by beautiful tannins that become refined with time.
James Suckling : “This has very fresh, lively and almost al-dente fruit. It’s mouthwatering and juicy. Medium-to full-bodied, refined and seamless. Long, with a firm backbone of tannins that are very fine and polished. Crunchy and structured. Chewy at the end. 92% cabernet sauvignon and 8% merlot. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification.”
