Château Troplong Mondot
Saint Emilion - 1er Grand Cru Classé B
Description
Troplong Mondot is located at the highest point of the Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation and enjoys premier grand cru classé status. The 43-hectare estate is surrounded by hills and a valley leading to the village of Saint Emilion. The vines grow on varied but complementary terroirs with an altitude range of 40 to 109 metres. Merlot accounts for most of the vineyard plantings (85%), followed by Cabernet Sauvignon (13%) and Cabernet Franc (2%). The vines grow on silty clay soils at the bottom of the hill, on asteriated limestone halfway up the hill, and on soft sandstone from the Agen region at the top.
