Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases
Saint Julien - Second Wine

Description
Born during the 2007 vintage, Le Petit Lion is the Second Wine of Chateau Léoville Las Cases, which, although made from younger vines, is made with the same care as it. The grapes are harvested by hand and severely sorted before the vinification which is carried out in different containers (stainless steel or cement tanks and wooden vats) and which is completed by an ageing period of about ten months in oak barrels with a proportion of new wood of about 10%. The beautiful majority of merlot (a surprising thing for the Bordeaux left bank) offers a roundness, a greediness and a striking fruitiness to the whole.
Vintage 2024 blend: 62% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc.
Falstaff : “An exhilarating, smiling nose, blending sweet red berries and roses with a fresh vein of flowers, enhanced by a touch of raspberry leaf. On the palate, it’s a breath of fresh air: tart berries add brightness and lightness, for a ravishingly graceful effect.”
