  • Description

Considered to be one of the oldest properties in the Saint-Emilion appellation, Château Figeac is also one of the largest. It has some forty hectares of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, which outnumber those of Merlot, although this is more common on the Right Bank. Grown according to sustainable principles, the grapes are vinified with the help of gravity in cone-shoped, stainless-steel tanks and oak vats. It’s matured for 15 to 18 months in wooden barrels.

The 2024 Blend: 65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc.

iDealwine En Primeur Tasting Note: “This wine is wonderfully expressive, with a bouquet that’s bursting with ripe black fruits, think blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum. On the palate, the tannins are rounded, offering plenty of structure. The finish is notably persistent.

Wine Advocate: “The 2024 Figeac is a lovely classic, wafting from the glass with aromas of blackcurrants, minty berries, licorice and pencil shavings, deftly framed by new oak. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with good depth at the core, powdery tannins and a suave, seamless profile, it’s a blend of 33% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc and 39% Cabernet Sauvignon that attained 12.7% alcohol. Figeac was one of those estates that took the risk of waiting to harvest, rejecting just over 20% of the crop in the sorting process to produce a compelling wine despite the challenging conditions.A deep, meditative nose, with ripe fruit aromas that rise like the effluvia of a magic potion: its velvety, powdery scents (iris, rose, violet) cast a spell. A soothing bouquet, calm yet vibrant, where fruity and floral aromas intertwine in a spellbinding olfactory dance. What refinement and elegance on the palate, with a texture that is both delicate and intense, concentrated and luminous. The texture is creamy, with a lovely spicy fullness, and the finish is chocolatey, voluptuous, irresistibly tasty, with a lovely freshness.
