Le Petit Mouton by Mouton Rothschild
Pauillac - Second Wine
Description
Second wine of Château Mouton-Rothschild, 1er Grand Cru Classé of 1855, Petit Mouton was born with the 1993 vintage. To make it, the property vinified grapes from its youngest vines in oak vats. The wine was made in carefully selected oak barrels. The majority Cabernet Sauvignon gives this dark colored wine a dense and serious character that the Merlot softens making the whole nicely balanced, persistent and charming. A very nice introduction to the style of this icon.
James Suckling : “This is a tighter and more compact Petit Mouton with a full-bodied, compact palate that is framed nicely by the tannins. Savory and juicy. Structured. Contained. 79% cabernet sauvignon, 12% merlot, 7% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Better than 2022?”
