Description

It’s in Margaux that we can find this prestigious chateau which can trace its origins back to the 17th centuary. Cultivated with care according to organic principles, the grapes whichmake up this great wine grow on fine, deep gravel soil which sit on a clay and limestone bedrock.

When it come to making the wine, the extraction is gentle in order to preseve the elegance of the fruit. After being aged for 18th months in oak barrels (about 60% of them are new), the wine is complex and structured with the potential for ageing.

iDealwine Primeur tasting note : “The nose is extremely fresh, pure and delicate, offering a complex, vibrant bouquet of predominantly floral notes (peony, violet). Intense, voluptuous flavours of ripe black fruit (berries, blackberries), spices and liquorice coat the palate. The texture is silky, the tannins velvety, and the whole ensemble is ample, light and airy right through to the finish, which is again intensely floral, combining notes of violet, rhubarb, peony and pepper. A remarkably persistent wine of great elegance and exquisite delicacy.”

Wine Advocate : “The 2023 Rauzan-Ségla shows considerable promise, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, dark berries and plums mingled with hints of pencil shavings and violets. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it’s deep and fleshy, with terrific purity of fruit, supple tannins and a long, resonant finish. This classic in the making is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13.5% Merlot and 1.5% Petit Verdot.”
